Goapele - Play

The Quiet Storm is proud to present Goapele and her song titled Play from her Break of Dawn record. It is a song that personifies the spirit of The Quiet Storm. However, this mix was not made for wimpy speakers.... in fact it might blow them up. So, be careful with the volume knob before you start playing this. But once you find the sweet spot on the volume knob, put it on repeat and savor the flavor of some sexy romance with that special someone. Enjoy! - GC

If this isn't the ultimate Quiet Storm groove, I don't know what is...

Released in 1992, this great song was written & very tastily produced by LeMel Humes for Cassandra Mills urban division on Irving Azoff's former Warner imprint named Giant Records.

Turn up the volume knob, because Miki Howard delivered what is a timeless classic that vibrates the air like a quiet storm. This song can spin on repeat for hours into days, maintaining it's full inspiration as a song with endless romance. - GC

Candy Dulfer - Lily Was Here

Candy Dulfer: The Ultimate Quiet Storm Artist

Only some songs have a timeless Quiet Storm aura and this song titled Lily Was Here has it. It was originally released in November 1989 as a soundtrack for a Dutch film titled De Kassière. Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) was hired to produce music for the film soundtrack and he invited Candy Dulfer to play the saxophone for the song, which became a regional hit. The following year, Dulfer released the song on her first solo album titled Saxuality in 1990. The song is a forever classic!

Just below is a live version of the iconic song. A video with the studio recording is an elusive find, but this live version is tastily performed and captured, despite a technical sound glitch of audio dropout at the 3:49 point in the video.GC

Concha Buika - Siboney

The Quiet Storm presents Concha Buika

This song titled Siboney by the artist Concha Buika, who musically goes by her last name, Buika, is one of the perfect first finds for The Quiet Storm playlist that is now developing. Born in Spain to African parents, her music is based in the Spanish language with rich heavy cuban jazz feels. Thanks to the shooter of the video, Oliver at OliveJazz31 on YouTube, who wrote the following description:
"Concha Buika playing "Siboney" at the Magic Mirror in Paris (La Défense) on April 16, 2013 during the Chorus Hauts-de-Seine Festival. Opening for Pink Martini. With Ivan "Melón" Lewis (piano) and Ramón Porrina (cajon)."
